Question 1

How much does a fence cost per foot in Twin Falls, Idaho?

Accepted Answer

Installed pricing at Twin Falls Fencing runs roughly: vinyl $35-60 per linear foot, wood $28-45, galvanised chain link $18-30, and ornamental aluminium or wrought iron $40-75. Agricultural wire fencing ranges from $2 per foot for electric to $9 for woven field fence. Final cost depends on terrain, materials, and access; we provide free on-site estimates with written quotes.

Question 2

What is the best fence for Idaho winters and frost heave?

Accepted Answer

Frost heave is the main cause of fence failure in Southern Idaho. The fix is installation, not just material: we set posts in 30-36 inch deep holes with gravel drainage at the base so water cannot freeze and lift the post. Vinyl and ornamental metal hold up best against both winter frost and high-altitude UV, while properly installed wood and chain link also perform well. Cheap shallow-set fences typically heave and need full replacement within 3-5 years.

Question 3

Wood or vinyl fence - which is better value?

Accepted Answer

Wood costs less upfront ($28-45 per foot installed) but needs sealing or staining every 2-3 years. Vinyl costs more upfront ($35-60) but requires almost no maintenance and lasts 20-30 years, so it is usually cheaper over the life of the fence once you count repainting and staining. For low-maintenance privacy in Idaho's climate, most homeowners come out ahead with vinyl.

Question 4

Do I need a permit to build a fence, and who marks utilities?

Accepted Answer

Many fence projects need a local permit, and Idaho law requires utility lines to be marked before digging. We handle 811 utility locates and permit processing as part of our turnkey service. Note that the mandatory 811 marking requires a minimum three-day wait before installation can begin, so we schedule around it.

Question 5

Does Twin Falls Fencing offer free estimates and a warranty?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We provide free, no-obligation on-site estimates with material samples and a written quote, and we typically respond within 24 hours, often the same day. All installations carry a lifetime installation warranty on craftsmanship, and we coordinate the 20-30 year manufacturer warranties on vinyl and metal products. Call (208) 732-2816 to book.
